Grand boat

  BYE, BYE BLOCK ISLAND ESSEX HERE WE COME  July 24, 2026 We leave at 6. I wish I took a picture of our neighbors waving to us. Usually everyone is sleeping when we leave.  Smooth ride. It's hard to evaluate distance and speed on the water.  Captain Scott took the right decision passing in front of the New London to Orientpoint ferry. We are at the Connecticut River at 7:30. Easy ride, the race was just a little bumpy. A little swell in Block Island Sound.  The best ride we had in years. Train on the bridge. Men at work. Boat at work. We try to check in early at Essex Marina but they can't take us so we anchor, take a nap and come in our slip in the cove at 11h.30. Turkey sandwich for lunch and a visit to the Pootatuck yatch club rendez-vous dock where Sue's boat is and Chris and Heather's with many others.  We chat about our dogs with Felicia and Jay.   OUR LAST DAY IN BLOCK ISLAND  July 23, 2026 Scott takes his usual walk with Immer at the BIMi. We put the puggy down and walk to Champlin's. This is our favorite view of the mainland and the pond. I'm texting with my brother in St-Pierre et Miquelon and sending a selfie.  It looks like we are on a fishing boat but we are on a dock. That's the path between Boat Basin and Champlin's. We call it Toolman's way because our friend John (RIP) showed it to Scott back on our first trip here. We walk to Ballard's for a drink or two and lunch.  We didn't get the mega chocolate and minth mudslide with Bailey's and Irish cream in it for 60$, but it does look decadent. We have patron margaritas and it was delicious. I have poke bowl with ahi tuna and Scott a burger. Scott gets a t-shirt at Block Star. Then we go grocery shopping for beer and coffee.   THE DAY SCOTT PUTS HIS BOOGIE BOARD IN USE July 22, 2026 Four foot waves Nope, not for me. Oh!boy, he's going in Good job! I wonder how is it in there. Apparently they have trouble with docking on windy days. They can take rough seas. I don't think I want to be in it today though. Nap is in order then a walk in town. Ordering pizza and chicken tenders from PPP. Scott is picky and he finds something he likes he sticks with it.  I'm so happy he likes aragula. The sea is not bad. Late dinner on the boat. Goodnight! 

  ANOTHER DAY IN BLOCK ISLAND July 21, 2026 Scott walk 35 minutes to the laundry machines at an employee housing, next to Wether Bees, with a laundry bag. They have new machines this year so it takes least time than last year. It feels good to have freshly laundered linens. For the  laundry junkies out there check out the song  Freshly Laundered linens by Boom Forest on your streaming service. It's a great song! I make us a blueberry and peanut butter sandwich , declutter the boat and fold the laundry. It good to see an orderly "home". Scott has a turkey sandwich for lunch, me a aragula and chicken salad. Canned chicken is not the best but the Chardonnay compensate 😆. Then a nap is in order. Scott fell asleep and wake up before me. He goes for a walk at the Block Island Maritime Institute with our baby. At 3:27 everyone hunker down for the predicted rain. We walk to Poor People Pub during a break of the rain.   A VERY EARLY START  July 20, 2026 Scott wakes up at 3:15 am, feeds the puggy. Immer says "ugh!? Food in the dark!? Ok. That works for me".  He does his business, back to bed and off we go. And here they are. In queue. The big ones The small ones. They all get in line outside the Great Salt Pond. Scott arrives 2 minutes in advance.  He sits comfortably and wait. And off they go.
