 Rainy day, June 27, 2022

We went for a short walk before the rain and saw from land the house that is on the the piece of land that Ray's grandparents used to own.  Grandma sold it in 1980 for 30 000$.


What do boaters do on rainy days? Planing the next trip and replenish. We want to go to Cuttyhonk so Scott is entering the route on the GPS.  It might not happen though because the forecast keeps on changing.  We'll have to wait and see. 


Ray came to pick us up at 12:30 and we went for grocery, coffee and booze.  Scott grilled some burgers and I boiled string beans in the Clubhouse and added homemade lemon salad dressing. Ray joined us for this late lunch.  He really liked the string beans.  The burgers were already prepared, the ones that Scott had been doing lately with garlic and blue cheese are better, but it hits the spot.

We took a nap and munched on carrots, chips and blueberries for dinner.  The evening was quiet, we watched the rain falling outside and a little bit on the deck.  I put a rag where the water comes in and when I was getting wet, I wrang the water out.

Side by side with SeaTow

  Captain Ben of Sea Tow Eastern Connecticut comes to the rescue at 9:16. Side by side, that's how they get boats out of a slip.  It makes sense but I never realized that. It's gonna be a long ride back. Well it's actually pretty relaxing. The sound is so calm. We cannot help to recall our 2 friends John and Toolman who were towed from Sag Harbor in rough seas.  So rough that the line snapped. John had to hook another one.  He couldn't walk on the bow so he went through the top hatch.  How scary!  Our adventure is way more mellow.  We are listening to our favorite music, Stephen Kellog and enjoying the view. So nice! So pretty! Even  New London is calm, New London is always choppy. We can see Long Island. Day 7

DAY 7 ON THE ISLAND,   July 20, 2024 Block Island  Scott wakes up a 3:30.  When he sees me moving he proposes a walk to Rodman Hollow which was our plan yesterday.   I said "I need a shower".  Scott:"yeah!".Good thing we did because soon after they shutt off the water for some digging.  After his too short night Scott gives up on the hike and goes back to sleep (night workers understand that).  I go to the Farmer's Market and get blueberries, lettuce and cucumbers. When Scott wakes up he goes and gets coffee. Then I make a sandwich for me and a wrap for Scott and we go to Coast Guard Beach. We stay there 6h.   Boats are coming in all day long. Scott finishes reading his book so I can read it. We walk pass the channel and look west at the open ocean in the direction of Montauk.
