Fourth of July in Block Island, 2022
We were up at 5, went to dinghy Beach by dinghy, walked across corn neck road and walk the beach south this time. We passed town beach and turn around.
Breakfast at Payne's.
Scott said to the girl "we're here because yesterday I saw a girl with an egg sandwich at Boat Basin and it looked so good".
The girl : " What's her name, Is it Alli?"
Scott : "Yes"
The girl : "She's my best friend, that's so funny"
My husband knows everybody!
We watched the parade from in front of the kayak rental place. Anyone can participate in the parade so people are making their own costume, tossing goodies. That was the funniest parade I ever seen.
We were planing to go have lunch in Old Harbor then meet with Tim who is coming to visit us by ferry and arrive at 2:30 but everybody was following the parade and we decided to turn around to have lunch on the boat.
Then we went to Scotch Beach swimming and relaxing. When we saw the high speed ferry go by we dinghed back to meet Tim at Boat Basin. Wow that Boat goes fast.
With Tim we went to Coast Guard Beach then Scotch Beach. Then we walked to Ballard's for dinner. As we were approaching the place the atmosphere was pretty crazy with young people and loud music. We were the oldest around. As soon as we got inside it got very quiet. We sat outside and there were nobody inside or out. It took a while before we got served we thought about walking out. The waitress told us that it was packed for lunch and the police stopped them to sell alcohol and was not sure we could have any.
Tim shared with me clam as appetizer then he had a lobster roll, Scott carbonara pasta and me shrimp tacos. We all enjoyed our meal. We walked back to the boat, it got cold.
At some point Scott went to the bathroom and a police officer told him " it's closed STOP WALKING". Afterwards we were joking about it and said : "You should have said : I dare you to talk to me like that, I'm wearing a 80$ pair of shorts" 😆.
I didn't take many pictures today, we were too busy chatting with our guest.
