Bright, smooth, foggy at times ride to Block Island
Bright, smooth, foggy at times ride to Block Island
July 14, 2024
Every ride to Block Island is different, kind of a journey.
We left at 6:35, were in Essex at 6:45. We're a little late but we are in no rush the forecast calls for no wind today.
We are surprised that there is no fog, yeah!
We remember last year.
So clear and smooth.
Smooth
And bright
Smooth
The biggest bump is the wake of a yatch which my cautious captain slows down for, thank you much Scott!
Bright! So much so that we decided that we would buy a hat.
Then it got a little foggy
And a little more
Have you ever seen the sun shinning bright on a foggy ride? (Singing to the tune of CCR 😀)
The Race was rattly as opposed to its bumpy usual mood.
It was peasoup fog the last 4 miles to the island. I was the first one to see and hear the bell. Scott was concentrating on the GPS to keep its course.
Here's the bell.
When we start to see we are in the channel. Thank God for GPS.
After 16 years of coming it almost feel like home, our summer home sweet home.
Hello there! Nice to see you again.
We take a walk to Champlin's and see that huge yatch. It's bigger than the building.
After googling its name (Bet on it), I found out that it's 151"5' long, it's port is Pisa, Italy. It can accommodate 10 guests and 8 crew members. And it's not a charter, wow!
Then Scott cannot contain his call for the beach any longer and despite his fatigue we head for the beach, the coast guard one that is.
The water is refreshing, 71°F. Scott guesstimate.
We're tired! Good night!
