Grey Day
GREY DAY
July 23, 2024
Block Island
A grey day on our favorite place is still a great day.
I went to the bathroom in the middle of the night and half asleep I noticed a tower 😆. Oh yeah that's the huge sailboat at Payne's. I didn't take a picture of it when we digned by yesterday but Lisa did.
This is Lisa and Brian Boutilier on their Crownline named "Two of us". What a nice couple they are.
We walk to town and have lunch at Ballard's. Scott enjoys his pepperoni bread and I my clams and linguine.
This is the most beautiful clams and linguine I've ever seen and the most delectable. The sauce was divine. I had to contain myself from slurping it out of the bowl 😆. The service was also excellent. Miss G from South Africa was very nice.
In the afternoon we go to Scotch Beach relying on the forecast that calls for some sun. That doesn't happen. Instead it is misty. Nonetheless Scott enjoys a few wave rides on his boogie board and I cover myself with a long sleeve shirt and a towel, shelter myself from the wind between two dunes and eat chips. We don't stay long.
On our way back we see fishing boats are lined up to weigh their catch(es).
Jeannie from our marina is here. Scott noticed her boat "Miss Ruby", a beautiful red trawler that her late husband built. Scott met her last year when I forgot my phone in the bathroom and she brought it to her boat. Scott called my phone and she got his number and called him back with her phone. He went to pick it up and she gave him a tour of the boat. Today we ran into her walking back from Payne's. Then she takes the launch back to her anchored boat.
Back on our dock we have a little chat with Emilio and his wife on their boat. Boat stories ... of course.
In the evening we go to Club Soda, do a load of laundry while having supper; pizza for Scott, half a rack of baby back ribs for me. It was delicious. We stay for karaoke. It is crowded and lively. The bar tenders are very busy. Most singers are not very good. One is but the off key crowd is louder 😆. We had fun. We walk back, Scott carrying our clean cloths à la Santa Claus 😆.
