Hot Day in Branford

 HOT DAY IN BRANFORD

June 23, 2025



Early stroll in town to explore our surroundings before the heat. We found a little Cafe (Little Riggs) but it's closed on Monday and Tuesday. There's Lenny's, we've been there and it's good for me who likes seafood but not much choice for Scott. Guacamole's Mexican Cuisine is attracting our attention.  The temperature is warm but it will be hot soon. And we found a beach.


Our first plan was Block Island but it didn't happen. Funny that we're walking on Block Island road. 


I go to the pool at 10 when it opens then we go for an early lunch at Dock Side restaurant at the marina.


Scott enjoyed his penne marinara and I enjoyed my Ceasar salad with grilled shrimps.


The afternoon is too hot for the puggy. and me, maybe Immer has Canadian blood 🤔.  Thank God for the AC. And thank Scott for fixing it yesterday.. 



Margaritas for happy hour at Guacamole's. 
Peach one for Scott, strawberry for me.


Then a big and delicious beef quessedilla for Scott.


And fish taco for me. Delicious! The fish is mahi-mahi and it's succulent.  We'll have two meals out of those..


We walk back to the marina and found it flooded.  


The tide is very high, a little tricky to reach the gangway and stay dry.

Another relaxing day of vacation has passed.

  Captain Ben of Sea Tow Eastern Connecticut comes to the rescue at 9:16. Side by side, that's how they get boats out of a slip.  It makes sense but I never realized that. It's gonna be a long ride back. Well it's actually pretty relaxing. The sound is so calm. We cannot help to recall our 2 friends John and Toolman who were towed from Sag Harbor in rough seas.  So rough that the line snapped. John had to hook another one.  He couldn't walk on the bow so he went through the top hatch.  How scary!  Our adventure is way more mellow.  We are listening to our favorite music, Stephen Kellog and enjoying the view. So nice! So pretty! Even  New London is calm, New London is always choppy. We can see Long Island. What a first day of vacation!

  WHAT A FIRST DAY OF VACATION! June 21 2025, Branford  We're leaving Deep River at 6:50. It is a perfect day. Sunny and calm, the way  we love them. Our puggy is with us. He's been without a lap for 15minutes while launching.  He's so happy now. Two laps is better than one though 😀. All is perfect until it's not. Less than an hour later we're almost motionless, drifting a little out and north. The serpentin  belt fell off again. Well we are on vacation therefore relax and that's how we are handling it.  We'll get towed to our destination and  take care of it there.   I'm actually impressed with the coolness of Scott.   Forty five minutes later. Captain Bill comes to the rescue from Old Saybrook, the Central Connecticut SeaTow franchise. It's still a perfect day and a perfect ride. We are cruising to Branford at a Nordic Tug speed (our dream) and hopefully Grand Boat will be fixed for good by Monday, Tuesday or Wednesday. Safe Ha...

Beautiful fall day in Essex

 Beautiful fall day in Essex October 5 & 6, 2024 We're going to the marina next door, should be an easy ride right? Right! First we have to wait for a boat to dock strugglingly. Then we undock strugglingly.  We're doing a good job though.  Then the Connecticut River is crowded, we're passed left and right and go around left and right.  In Essex there's a sailboat race, they are everywhere, tackling. And it's windy. Pictures don't captured that at all. We walked to the Connecticut River museum then we just chilled and go to bed early.  Sunday morning we're up early and go for a good walk. Essex is festive for Halloween.  What a beautiful day! The Black Seal decorations. We decide that we're coming back for lunch. And here we are.  Scott cannot resist the chicken parm.
