Block Island, RI, June 30, 2022

We brought cereal and some other choices for breakfast but Java Madness is too good we couldn't resist.  It's our third morning here having an egg sandwich on bagel with a view on the Yatch Club

Bye-bye Silver Spring Marina,  we love you, we'll be back.

Leaving Point Judith

We left the marina at 8:40 because we didn't want  to leave at low tide.  That's quite late for us.  In hindsight we probably would have been ok and our ride would have been smoother.  It was not bad though, just a little bumpy with the swells.

We were going directly into the wind, blowing from south west.

It's weird for us to see the island from that angle, we usually come from Long Island Sound.  Made me realize that there are more bluffs than I thought.  I tried to take pictures but we were moving too much.

I don't remember seeing wind mill from the entrance of the Great Salt Pond, maybe they built more.

We came one day earlier than planned because we didn't go to Cuttyhonk due to the wind, the price of gas and we were having too much fun in Point Judith area. So we have no reservations for today at Boat Basin Marina. We dropped the anchor by dinghy Beach and dinghed to the marina.  Scott wanted to see what slips were available before requesting one.  Last year we were on a parallel slip by the dinghy dock and we liked it but Scott thought maybe there's too much chance to get hit, there's always a lot of action there.  I voted for it anyway, arguing that it wouldn't happen.

Scott decided to ask for it and we got it.  We took the water taxi to the boat so we can dock more easily without the dinghy in the back.  Docking was easy with the help of 2 dock crew members. We are the first spot by the gangway, very protected from the wind.

We got hit by a dinghy almost right after we were settled down, not hard though, it was just funny.

We never seen the marina so empty.  It will change tomorrow.

We went for a walk at Champlin's marina in late afternoon.   Sat at the end of the dock, relaxing and people watching. An older couple came to get gas in their fairly big sailboat.  The lady threw a line at the "gas girl" but it was not attached to the boat. The girl gave it back.  The captain turned around and approached a second time, the lady threw the line again and was not attached again, at least she kept one end.  The girl showed her the cleat where to loop and she finally did.  I give them a lot of credit starting boating at that age.

We went to bed early, traveling days are always tiring.
