Plans changed

PLANS CHANGED Scott gets up at 4:30, leaves at 5:20 but Uber to get my car in Deep River and leave it at the marina in Shelton where his friend Tim is and where we're going tomorrow for the weekend. He comes back here with another Uber.  He gets friendly with the driver who is a 78 years old man who is member of the Freedom Boat Club. He texts me that he is cool and invites him down.  That makes me jumping out of bed and get dressed.  I needed the motivation. Well he's not coming he got a call. We're having an early lunch, pizza from Honey spot pizza.  Delicious! Not greasy, real garlic slices yum! I brought aragula for that purpose.  It's a good combination, it makes us having our greens and Scott likes it yeah! And it doesn't go to waste easily.  I'll remember that. I texted Scott to bring the vacuum and it was in the car already.   Yeah today is perfect for cleaning and doing laundry.  Like my assistant Kella would say :"There's something ...

French lesson, June 26th, 2025, Branford

FRENCH LESSON  June 26th, 2025, Branford  The day started with a late breakfast for me and an early lunch for Scott at Little Riggs. No picture i didn't bring my phone. We took a picture at Guacamole's though, while walking by.  Scott really liked his margaritas and quesadilla there the other day.  When life sends you a lemon you make lemonade and when it sends a toothache after a root canal treatment you call the ododontist and you get your prescription by dinghy then by foot. Thank God for technology.  There's a lot of boats with French name so let's have a French lesson Scott  😉 and whoever wants to play 😀.  First we dock at Stoney Creek and the owner or manager kindly agrees for us to leave our dighny there and directs us to CVS and even lets the door unlocked for when we'll come back.  The brewery is not open yet, how nice!  That cuts our walk in half, half and hour instead of one hour.  And its on a sidewalk all the way.  It...

Hopeful Day

Hopeful Day June 26, 2025, Bruce & Johnson Marina, Branford I wish I took a picture of Scott investigating the motor but I was pretty down with the heat and a toothache and after running errands at Walmart.  The boat is not fix but with his friends are walking him through it, Scott thinks he knows what the problem is.  He overnights a serpentin belt and a tensioner.  His friend Mike will come tomorrow to install them. After that it's a lazy day.  It's hot and we have no energy. We have to eat though. "You're a genius" Well I might be ha! ha!,  I created Gazpacho à la Scott which means no cucumber, no onion, no pepper. I'm having it with my grilled shrimps from Dock Side restaurant.  Here the recipe if you are interested:  https://alascott.blogspot.com/2020/06/gaspacho-soup-recipe.html For dinner we grilled kielbesa, potatoes and carrot. Thank God the temperature will be cooler tomorrow.. Good night!

Hot Day in Branford

HOT DAY IN BRANFORD June 23, 2025 Early stroll in town to explore our surroundings before the heat. We found a little Cafe (Little Riggs) but it's closed on Monday and Tuesday. There's Lenny's, we've been there and it's good for me who likes seafood but not much choice for Scott. Guacamole's Mexican Cuisine is attracting our attention.  The temperature is warm but it will be hot soon. And we found a beach. Our first plan was Block Island but it didn't happen. Funny that we're walking on Block Island road.  I go to the pool at 10 when it opens then we go for an early lunch at Dock Side restaurant at the marina. Scott enjoyed his penne marinara and I enjoyed my Ceasar salad with grilled shrimps. The afternoon is too hot for the puggy. and me, maybe Immer has Canadian blood 🤔.  Thank God for the AC. And thank Scott for fixing it yesterday..  Margaritas for happy hour at Guacamole's.  Peach one for Scott, strawberry for me. Then a big and delicious b...

Nice day in Branford

NICE DAY IN BRANFORD June 22, 2025 It started with a little rain.  Then we were invited by my sister in law and brother for breakfast at the gazebo by our dock. They are the best guests, they are more than low maintenance they are actually treating us. I didn't take any picture I had too much of a good time. Always great conversations, even therapeutic 😌.  Thank you guys! A great egret  was walking sneakily the dock this morning. Leaving the dream. Yep another nice day of vacation.

What a first day of vacation!

WHAT A FIRST DAY OF VACATION! June 21 2025, Branford  We're leaving Deep River at 6:50. It is a perfect day. Sunny and calm, the way  we love them. Our puggy is with us. He's been without a lap for 15minutes while launching.  He's so happy now. Two laps is better than one though 😀. All is perfect until it's not. Less than an hour later we're almost motionless, drifting a little out and north. The serpentin  belt fell off again. Well we are on vacation therefore relax and that's how we are handling it.  We'll get towed to our destination and  take care of it there.   I'm actually impressed with the coolness of Scott.   Forty five minutes later. Captain Bill comes to the rescue from Old Saybrook, the Central Connecticut SeaTow franchise. It's still a perfect day and a perfect ride. We are cruising to Branford at a Nordic Tug speed (our dream) and hopefully Grand Boat will be fixed for good by Monday, Tuesday or Wednesday. Safe Ha...
