First of 17. 

Shelton to Statford.
July 12th, 2025

Yesterday was our first night of 17 on the boat.
I had a full week at work and Scott had a long night Thursday. But woo hoo! we are on vacation for two weeks.

Scott spent the evening with Tim, Fred and Scott Gwatkin. I hit the sac early. 
This morning we are waiting for high tide.
We're having an early lunch that I improvised with left overs and what we got.
An aragula concoction is born.

 Scott is having a salad for the first time of his life. He says :"You're a genius' 😆.  Aragula, carrot match sticks, chicken, kielbasa, homemade lemon olive oil dressing.  What not to love.  


1:20 we are leaving Sanders Marina 


and heading to Safe Harbor Stratford.

I'm zooming in, in hope to see the baby ospreys but nope.  I saw mom and dad earlier and I hear that there's two babies.


We have a slip at the gas dock and it's our view from our front porch 😉.

We go to the cocktail party at the pool. Scott gets a beer and I get a Pinot Grigio in a can.
If we were not invited to Pootatuck for dinner we would have eaten there. They had a nice spread, even for picky Scott; pasta, deli meat etc.


We feed the puggy and walk him so he can take ownership of the land 😀. The weather is breezy therefore more tolerable than Sanders'.


We remember that it gets buggy around here but there's a screen porch by the grills, how nice!.


Mike, Sue, Heather and Chris are going to a bar by dinghy for happy hour.  We prefer relaxing on the boat.


I see Mike on his dinghy talking on the phone and hear Scott on the phone down below. Yep they're talking to one another.


There's live music at the restaurant by our dock.  They are very good.
Pootatuck is a five minutes walk.


The club hired a Chef and we enjoy a nice meal à la carte with them.  First Heather treats us with clams then I had seabass Francese and Scott a chicken parm sandwich. We got canneloni for dessert.  I think it was from the chef as an apology for the late service.  And Sue treats us with ice cream sandwiches.  Everything was delicious, the company was great. We got to know Terry, Michael,  Heather and Chris a little better. 
Good time!


Then the moon gives us a show while we were enjoying a chocolate martini on Priority dock.

What a first day of vacation!

FOURTH OF JULY, 2025  Port Jefferson, NY We slept in Shelton last night, leave early this morning and are in the Sound at 8:13. There's a little ripple in the beginning then it got a little uncomfortable but not bad at all. At 8:40 we enter the channel of Conscious Bay.  We tie up to Priority and get to know Sue more (Daisie's mom).  We find in her a great listener to our dog stories and so she does with us.  We decide that we are like family now. ❤️  Dinghy ride on land  for a walk with the boy Our boat is somewhere in the bay. We bring our chairs for the Pootatuck fireworks tonight. Relaxing is in order now, the weather is perfect. Yesterday there was a big storm and that katamaran dragged with the mooring... how scary. Mike and Scott work hard to blow a deck and a pool. How about that! What a set up! Sue and Mike have a lot of friends and a lot of them stopped by for a visit by boat or by dinghy. What a first day of vacation!

  WHAT A FIRST DAY OF VACATION! June 21 2025, Branford  We're leaving Deep River at 6:50. It is a perfect day. Sunny and calm, the way  we love them. Our puggy is with us. He's been without a lap for 15minutes while launching.  He's so happy now. Two laps is better than one though 😀. All is perfect until it's not. Less than an hour later we're almost motionless, drifting a little out and north. The serpentin  belt fell off again. Well we are on vacation therefore relax and that's how we are handling it.  We'll get towed to our destination and  take care of it there.   I'm actually impressed with the coolness of Scott.   Forty five minutes later. Captain Bill comes to the rescue from Old Saybrook, the Central Connecticut SeaTow franchise. It's still a perfect day and a perfect ride. We are cruising to Branford at a Nordic Tug speed (our dream) and hopefully Grand Boat will be fixed for good by Monday, Tuesday or Wednesday. Safe Ha...

July 25th 2025 in Block Island

  JULY 25TH 2025 ON BLOCK ISLAND Scott wakes up early feed the boy, takes him out and off we go to dinghy beach. 6:45 we are on Scotch Beach. Scott thinks of going in. I'm not. I'm cold. First we walk to Fred Benson Town Beach till it gets rocky, right before Baby Beach. There's a swimmer out there but the photo doesn't show it. He's going in. I regret not having my bathing suit on.  The Great Salt Pond is dark and moody. The ride back will be an adventure.  ... Well it was not that bad. At 4:30 pm there's electricity in the air. Everybody is getting ready for the storm. Does the puggy care? Nope, it's almost supper time. It's coming baby! Do I care?  Nope. I'm enjoying a expresso martini (thanks to Mel) while watching the show.  Twelve minutes later everyone is out and about again. Black bean and corn salsa for dinner. The fresh corn from the Farmer's Market is disappointing.  The calm after the storm.
